It's that time of year, readers - the time of lists and recaps, of bests and worsts. Below are my top ten SFF books of 2017!
After I finished reading The Last Mortal Bond a few months back, I was thrilled to discover that Brian Staveley would be releasing a standalone story about Pyrre Lakatur, everyone's favorite death priestess and assassin. So here we are, a few weeks after Skullsworn's release. And let me tell you - it does not disappoint.
Since I forgot to write a Best Of list for 2016, I decided to put together a list of all the books I'm super excited about this year. Most of them are sequels to books I've read previously (I'm sure I will find some lovely new authors and books to sweep me off my feet at some point), but these are the books currently at the shut-up-and-take-my-money level of excitement.
I actually finished this book several months ago, but I've been so behind that it's taken me this long to review it. Which is a shame, because wow - this was such a good conclusion to The Chronicle of the Unhewn Throne series. Slow clap for Mr. Brian Staveley.
If you ever read this, Brian Staveley - thank you. Thank you for turning it up to 11 in The Providence of Fire.
I have mixed feelings on The Emperor's Blades. I want to love it, I really do - but I can't bring myself to get past "like." On paper, this book looks like a perfect fit for my tastes, but in practice I found it somewhat lacking.
