#RevPit Author Bio

I'm getting ready to submit my manuscript for Prisoner of Fate to Revise and Resubmit, a contest where the prize is five weeks of working with a professional editor. As part of that, we're doing a blog hop with writer bios, in the hopes of getting to know each other (and letting the the editors get to know us).

So here's a little bit about me.

I'm a real-life Belle - by which, I mean I recreate that opening song pretty much every day when I walk into my office. My mother is convinced someday I'll get hit by a car while I'm reading and not paying attention. I read about a book a week on average, mostly fantasy and science fiction.

Music completes my life. I play three instruments (piano, violin and organ) and I sing (Soprano II/Alto I). I'm that chick belting Broadway tunes chased by 80s rock in my car, and I'm also the girl dancing to my iPod as I walk down the street.

I'm an avid cosplayer. Generally speaking, I'm a maker, not a buyer - for me, half the fun is the pride of knowing I built something myself. Last year for DragonCon, I was the Evil Queen from Once Upon a Time, Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games, the Starship Enterprise (yes the actual spaceship), and the Fourth Doctor from Doctor Who. I'm working on some really exciting stuff for this year, including an attempt at one of Queen Amidala's Episode One dresses.

I have a degree in anthropology and sociology. I almost went into archaeology (I even did field school in Monticello) but I ended up using my powers for marketing instead. These days, I run digital (website, email, social) for my place of employment.

And obviously, I write. I wrote my first books in elementary school, and I haven't stopped since. I write what I love, which is fantasy and occasionally science fiction. While I work on my novels and short stories, I also write regular book reviews, the occasional movie review, and sometimes even appear on Quora to answer questions.

Thanks for reading, #RevPit community! I look forward to interacting with all of you more!
