SG-1 travels to a planet of yellow desert, interspersed with broken blue crystals. Colonel O'Neill finds an intact crystal out of sight of the rest of the team, and it blasts him back, leaving him unconscious. A copy of O'Neill generated by the blast returns through the Stargate to Earth.
SG-1 visits a planet with a culture based on Mycenaean Greece. Immediately upon arrival, Daniel helps deliver a baby boy. SG-1 returns to a village with the child's parents, where they're treated to food and drink. Jack is given a special cake by a woman named Kynthia, and he begins feeling strange. Kynthia seduces Jack. When the sun sets, everyone in the village falls asleep right away--including Jack.
SG-1 is sent offworld to investigate the disappearance of SG-9. After finding one of the team, Lieutenant Conner, Conner explains that Captain Hanson, SG-9's leader, has lost it. He's convinced the locals that he's a god and is now forcing them to build a temple. Anyone who disobeys gets left out in the harsh sunlight to die of exposure.
SG-1 travels to a planet where it appears to be perpetually night, with SG-3's marines for back-up. There, they learn the planet's unfortunate situation--occasionally, humans here fall victim to a "curse" that turns them into the Neanderthal-like people, and they are exiled to the planet's night side. That would be all well and good, but when SG-1 and SG-3 return to Earth, the team members begin succumbing to the disease one by one.
SG-1 arrives on its first "planet of the week" and rescues a young man running from a tribe of what appear to be Mongols. The young man, Abu, is immediately horrified to discover Sam is female and unveiled, but he leads them back to his father's encampment. During the night, Abu kidnaps Sam and takes her to a rival camp, where he attempts to trade her for the chieftain's daughter, whom he loves.
Following directly from "Children of the Gods," Lt. Kawalsky is experiencing headaches and blackouts. After an episode where he kills a doctor and ends up standing in front of the Stargate, the team identifies the problem: an immature Goa'uld has taken up residence in Kawalsky's head. The only solution? An extremely dangerous surgery to remove the symbiote.
One year after the events of the Stargate movie, an alien comes through the Stargate and kidnaps a USAF airman. Jack O'Neill is called out of retirement and forced to admit the truth: he did not destroy the Abydos Stargate, and Daniel Jackson is alive on the planet. A team is sent to Abydos to investigate, including Major Kawalsky and a new character, Captain Samantha Carter.
It's been awhile since I've done any TV reviews, in part because I don't have a ton of time for TV watching these days. However, I've recently started rewatching my favorite show, Stargate SG-1, with my best friend Lamb who's never seen it. (GASP)
Remember when I said that S6E2: Home was probably Game of Thrones’ best episode to date?Yeeeah, I might be revising that opinion now.
This week's episode wasn't firing on all cylinders the way last week's was, but it was still an okay episode overall.
How do I feel about S6E2: Home? 10/10, would gladly watch again. This is easily the best single episode in several seasons.
The Day has finally arrived. The Day when book readers no longer have the smug superiority of knowing what happens. The Day where we officially have no basis to say whether the book or show is better. The Day where we have to address all the problems GRRM created in book five. Crap.
I'm often very bad about watching my TV shows within a reasonable amount of time. So despite the long mid-season break, I didn't watch "Souls of the Departed" until four days after it had aired. I'd already heard from several people that the episode was amazing, so the hype was building. Would the episode be able to live up to the rave reviews?
This episode is all about struggles. We've got the struggle to rescue a kidnapped girl - and Lucifer actually gets called in because he has an invite to the suspect's conference (a pickup artist convention).Lucifer struggles with his inability to seduce Claire. Claire, meanwhile, struggles with all the strange things she's seen from Lucifer - still teetering on the edge of the Lucifer-is-actually-the-devil cliff.
This week, everyone's favorite snarktastic devil took on the murder of a wannabe actress, killed during a virgin football player's party and found in a swimming pool. Meanwhile, a nobody is impersonating Lucifer and giving him a bad name and reputation.
FOX has tricked me into watching a buddy cop police show. Except I'm mostly OK with it.This week on Lucifer, we explore with a new sordid crime that Chloe Decker feels the need to poke her nose in. While the crime is sleazy and trashy, it's nothing we haven't seen before. There are no twists here waiting in the shadows.
Wow. Where do you even begin on such a finale?At the beginning, I suppose, with the song I was waiting for all season.
When a show opens with Cage the Elephant's "Ain't No Rest for the Wicked," you know it's going to be good. And FOX's new show Lucifer, based on the character originally created by Neil Gaiman in DC Comics' The Sandman, does not disappoint.
So Galavant died. That happened. Fortunately, though, the show was more alive than ever this week, with what were probably my favorite episodes of the season to date.
This week, Galavant went to the Great White Way with its music. There were two obvious homages to famous musicals: the Jets & Sharks of West Side Story (recast as giants and dwarves who...well, they're all actually the same size) and the patriotic Frenchmen of Les Miserables (recast as Sid leading a group of increasingly less enthusiastic peasants against Gareth and Madalena's troops).
